EDM Wirecut Cutting Speed/Time Calculator

Welcome to our EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Wirecut Cutting Speed/Time Calculator! This tool is designed to assist you in determining either the cutting time or cutting speed for your wirecut EDM operations. By inputting the length to be cut, material thickness, and your desired calculation (cutting time or cutting speed), our calculator will provide you with accurate results to optimize your EDM wirecutting process.

How to use?

  • Length to be Cut :

Enter the total length (in mm) that you need to cut using the EDM wirecut machine. This value represents the linear extent of material to be removed.

  • Material Thickness :

Specify the thickness (in mm) of the material to be cut. This parameter helps determine the EDM wirecutting process's efficiency and accuracy.

  • Calculation Selection :

Choose the calculation you want to perform by selecting the desired option:

    • Cutting Time: If you want to determine the time required to complete the wirecutting process, select this option.
    • Cutting Speed: If you wish to calculate the cutting speed needed to complete the wirecutting process within a specific timeframe, select this option.

  • Cutting Time Calculation :

If you selected "Cutting Time" in the previous step, the calculator will automatically display the cutting time required to complete the wirecutting process based on the length to be cut and material thickness. The result will be presented in hours, minutes, and seconds.

  • Cutting Speed Calculation :

If you choose "Cutting Speed" in the previous step, you will need to input the desired cutting time or the time you have available for the wirecutting process.

The calculator will display the cutting speed required to complete the wirecutting process within the specified time frame. The result will be presented in units per hour.

Note: The cutting speed represents the rate at which the wire electrode moves through the material during the EDM wirecutting process.

The actual cutting time may vary depending on a number of factors, such as the type of wire electrode being used, the condition of the machine, and the complexity of the cut.

Here are some additional tips for calculating EDM wirecut cutting time:

  • Use a cutting speed that is appropriate for the material being cut and the desired surface finish.
  • Take into account the thickness of the wire electrode. The thicker the wire electrode, the slower the cutting speed will need to be.
  • Consider the complexity of the cut. More complex cuts will take longer to machine.
  • Add a safety factor to the calculated cutting time to account for unexpected variables.
